Significance of Bhai Dooj:

Bhai Dooj is celebrated two days after Diwali on the second day of new moon. This is a holi festival celebrating an emotional binding between brother and sister. On this day, sisters express their love and affection for their brothers by performing aarti, applying tilak (vermilion) on their foreheads, and tying a protective thread around their wrists. They also offer delicious food to their brothers. This symbolic act signifies sisters’ prayers for their brothers’ well-being and long life. In return, brothers shower their sisters with gifts and promise to protect and support them throughout their lives.  Brothers in return promise fulfilment of wishes of their sisters and protection

The mythological story behind Bhai Dooj is this that once, Yama, the god of death, visited his sister Yamuna on this day. Yamuna warmly welcomed her brother and applied tilak on his forehead. Touched by her love and hospitality, Yama granted Yamuna a boon that whoever receives tilak and aarti from their sister on this day would be blessed with a long and prosperous life.

Another story is about Lord Krishna and His sister Subhadra. Lord Krishna after defeating demon king Narakasura, came to His sister Subhadra. Subhadra welcomed him by offering flowers and sweets and put tilak on His forehead.  Lord Krishna blessed her sister.

What is the spiritual meaning of Bhai Dooj? First, our relationship with women is sacred like brother and sister. Women support their male part and wish for their victory against evil desires. Narakasura is the symbol of darkness, ignorance and disorder. Lord Krishna defeated him by awakening his energy. Secondly, Bhai Dooj spreads message of purity of individuals. It’s the purity only which ensures your healthy and long life as promised by Yama. This is ensured by sisters for their brothers.

Let’s be brothers to all women and protect them. Let’s be pure and humble.

What is success and steps to achieve success

I am back after a long break. Sometimes, waiting is better to increase value. Waiting shows patience and gives better output. Today, I want to share my views on ways to achieve success. First of all, what is success? People have different opinions about defining success and also different means to achieve success. But, what is true meaning of success? According to Oxford Dictionary, “Success is accomplishment of one’s goal or purpose of life”. The focus is on your goal or purpose and achievement of your goal and purpose. The outcome of your success is happiness of fulfilment. While fixing your goal or purpose of life, you should consider happiness as its end and find means to achieve that happiness. The basic factors of happiness are enjoyment and satisfaction in whatever you do. Wealth and glory may be by-products of goal or purpose but cannot be a source of happiness. For example, you may like to become a Doctor, Engineer or IAS which may bring you wealth and glory but may not give you happiness. On the other hand, being an artist, poet or author may not bring wealth and glory but bring you happiness. You must decide your profession depending upon your nature and interest, not as a source of wealth, power and glory only. You will never be satisfied in life and always repent for what you have chosen? So first step of success is to choose goal of your interest. Second step is to have strong commitment to achieve your goal whatever obstructions may you face. Patience is the right word. Third and final step is to maintain level of your success and experiment with new ideas. You must not be arrogant of your achievement which will be a deterrent to your continuity of success. You must thank God for your success which is the best way to shun arrogance.

Try the above three steps and enjoy happiness in life.
